Julian Goldie LLP is a Partner in Gerald Edelman

"Julian has provided tax and accounting advice on an ongoing basis throughout the growth of my business. I genuinely believe the business would not be the success it is today without Julian’s input."

Nick Coulson

Director, NC Construction Services Ltd.

One of the most rewarding elements of my role is the feeling that I am personally a part of my clients’ success. I am fortunate to meet and work with lots of different, very interesting people and take the opportunity to immerse myself in their affairs. This can include learning about their personal circumstances, their businesses, and developing a deep understanding of the issues that they face or the worries that keep them up at night. Consequently, I try to put myself in their shoes and consider what would I do in their position, to offer well thought-out, entirely bespoke advice.

I mainly focus on providing tax advice to owner-managed businesses, high net worth and non-UK domiciled individuals. I always aim to help my clients to make the best choices for their individual circumstances by providing clear options, backed up with sound commercial and technical advice on tax efficient planning and structuring. I also provide counsel on tax investigations should my clients need it.

After completing my Economics degree in 1991, I went on to qualify as a Chartered Tax adviser in 1995. I joined Gerald Edelman in 2016 through a merger with my previous firm, where I was a partner for 14 years. I am also a former HM Inspector of Taxes.

What is the most daring thing you’ve ever done?
I bought a Ford Mustang and didn’t tell my wife. I still park it around the corner and drive my little run around home.

What one piece of advice would you give your 10-year-old self?
Be confident in your decision-making and quickly learn from your mistakes. That way, you’ll achieve a great deal over a short amount of time.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
The ability to hit a golf ball in a straight line. I would love to know how that feels!

Who inspires you?
Anyone who thinks outside the box and gets on with making things happen. They always have the better stories to tell.
