I support our clients by helping to ensure their data is kept safe and secure. A key part of my role is supporting the Firm in maintaining our Cyber Essentials Plus certification, demonstrating our commitment to high standards of cyber security. I also ensure our teams have reliable, secure and up-to-date technology so they can deliver the best possible service to clients. I was also involved in implementing our client file-sharing portal, providing clients with a simple and secure way to share sensitive information with us.

As Assistant Manager in IT, I help keep the Firm’s technology running securely and effectively. My role ranges from resolving complex technical issues and supporting our day-to-day IT operations to overseeing internal processes and helping drive improvements. I’m also a key point of contact for cyber security and data protection. Alongside my core responsibilities, I’m involved in our work with AI and automation, looking at how new technologies can improve the way we work and help Gerald Edelman remain forward-thinking and innovative.

I started my career in IT as an apprentice at 17 after realising that college wasn’t the right path for me. After completing my apprenticeship, I was offered a full-time role and continued developing my skills through Microsoft qualifications and hands-on experience. I progressed into more senior support roles, including Deputy Service Desk Manager, and had the opportunity to mentor and develop other IT apprentices, many of whom have since gone on to build successful careers of their own.

What is the most daring thing you’ve ever done?

Back when I was in the Air Cadets, I had the opportunity to co-pilot an RAF training aircraft. Taking the controls and experiencing aerobatics was incredible, but learning how to use a parachute brought mixed emotions.

What one piece of advice would you give your 10-year-old self?

Being quirky isn’t a bad thing. It’s what makes you unique, and embracing what makes you different can be one of the greatest sources of creativity.

If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be?

Mat Armstrong. I’d love to talk to him about his car collection, how he first got into rebuilding cars and what inspired him to turn that passion into what he does today.

Who inspires you?

My late grandad. His contribution to his community was recognised with a plaque alongside Sir Trevor Brooking. He also helped me get started in my IT career and taught me the importance of having a strong work ethic.
