Nicholas Wallis LLP is a Partner in Gerald Edelman Deal Advisory

I try to ensure that all my clients, whether seller or buyer, are afforded the maximum potential to get the deal completed and at the best possible value – hopefully exceeding their expectations.

“Failing to prepare is preparing to fail” – a quote that has stuck with me from an early age, and could not be more true when considering an M&A transaction. Having worked on a number of deals, I try to ensure that all my clients, whether seller or buyer, are afforded the maximum potential to get the deal completed and at the best possible value – hopefully exceeding their expectations!

My core focus is to provide market leading advice to business owners on planning for the sale of their businesses and on the sale itself, and also to buyers on their M&A strategy, always with the aim of engaging clients early in the thought process to deliver successful outcomes.

I graduated with a degree in Finance, Accounting and Management from the University of Nottingham in 2009 and subsequently joined the graduate scheme at one of the Big Four. I qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2012 and worked in both the Audit and Deals teams on numerous high-profile transactions. Most recently, as a Director within a corporate finance firm, I led a number of mid-market private company M&A transactions across a range of sectors, including leisure, industrial products, pharmaceuticals, transport and business services. I joined Gerald Edelman in 2019 to head up the Deal Advisory department.

What one piece of advice would you give your 10-year-old self?
Don’t worry about the little things – always take a step back and look at the big picture.

If you could have dinner with anyone who would it be?
Micky Flanagan – I’d laugh all evening and we’d then go ‘out out’…

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I would be able to fly – to avoid the tube and traffic!

Who inspires you?
Roger Federer – he works incredibly hard, is super talented, but more importantly is a class act and general inspiration.
