Life After Graduation is a series of events organised by Gerald Edelman and Lancaster University to support and guide graduates in securing their first job. At these events, we are privileged to be joined by guest speakers from top institutions, business leaders and owners to discuss various career routes, as well as their top tips for success.

If you’re thinking about a career in accountancy there are many pathways you can choose. Most firms will put you on a training program, where you will combine studying with working, enabling you to apply what you learn to your every day. But, with so many qualifications to choose from, which is right for you?
This is a unique opportunity for you to hear from each of the awarding bodies in one place – ACA, ACCA, CTA, CPA Australia and CIMA. You will find out what each qualification entails, the key differences between them and understand which is right for you.

About Lynn
Lynn is a Partner and Head of the Asian Division of top 50 accountancy firm Gerald Edelman. She has over 13 years of commercial and technical experience in various industries. Lynn specialises in advising businesses in setting up overseas subsidiaries, management accounts, financial controls, employee incentive scheme, R&D tax claim, EIS/SEIS scheme set up, corporate finance, business financing and tax strategy. She is also a specialist in creating business plans, financial modelling, valuation for firms of various sizes and purpose.
Lynn did her undergraduate and master’s degree in Manchester business school in international business, finance and economics and is a Chartered Management Accountant and ATT qualified tax advisor.

About Noeleen
Noeleen Hammond Jones is the Deputy Head of LUMS Careers for Work Related Learning and the interim International Careers Manager with the Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) Careers team, and Co-Chair of the AGCAS Internationalisation Task Group. She has worked in careers for over 11 years delivering a blended career service through a variety of platforms and technologies to engage the diverse international talent pool of students ranging from 4,500 MBAs globally to over 19,000 undergraduate and postgraduate EU & international students. She is an experienced International Employer Engagement Manager, liaising with organisations, agencies, SMEs and start-ups for all international recruitment needs. This has included developing business opportunities with organisations globally to create long term mutually beneficial relationships which result in projects such as internship programme development, leadership development, research collaborations and contributions to international employability and recruitment strategies.

About Harvey
Harvey joined the Student Engagement team in June 2021. He studied business management at St Mary’s University whilst also being President of the Business Enterprise society, so he understands the pressures and time strains university can have on all aspects of life.
Harvey loves engaging with all students and talking about the endless career opportunities here at ICAEW, whilst enlightening them about the ACA qualification.

Diane has 14 years experience at CIMA as a Manager in Student Recruitment looking after Universities and Colleges of Further Education across the UK and is passionate about linking education to employment and a professional qualification.
Her role involves building relationships with academics across all levels at universities to actively engage their students in promoting a career in accountancy. This can involve skills sessions, business games and short lecture visits with their students. It is very rewarding to be able to talk about how CIMA can help their career and how their degree fits in with the CIMA qualification. It is always great to see the look on a students face when they realise the value of what they are studying!
Another exciting part of Diane’s role is working with universities to enhance their degree structure through accreditation and partnerships.
