Gerald Edelman strengthens VAT practice with new partner hire
Gerald Edelman is pleased to announce the appointment of VAT partner, Richard Staunton.
Richard brings over 25 years’ experience of VAT planning to the firm, with particular expertise in land and property, retail and renewables as well as extensive exposure to VAT tribunals.
Richard maintains a portfolio of large corporate clients to whom he provides both VAT compliance and VAT support. Having started his career as a VAT Inspector for HMRC, Richard subsequently practiced as a VAT consultant, gained experience in the retail sector and worked as a VAT specialist within a consultancy firm. Commenting on his appointment, Richard said:
“I am extremely pleased to join Gerald Edelman at such a pivotal time in the firm’s evolution. I look forward to developing the firm’s VAT practice and helping our clients to deal with both general VAT compliance and more complex VAT issues.”
In addition to this new partner hire, our VAT practice will be further enhanced by the addition of team members Glenis Gibbs and Anne Staunton. Both Glenis and Anne also have considerable experience in supporting clients with VAT compliance and planning, including partial exemption, place of supply and charity issues. They have particular expertise in assisting overseas businesses selling goods and services via the internet.
Richard Kleiner, Chief Executive Officer, commented:
“We are delighted and proud to welcome Richard, Glenis and Anne to the team. Richard’s wealth of experience across all aspects of VAT alongside that of the wider team and his broad client base make these individuals an excellent fit for the firm.
Our newly expanded team will be available to provide quick and efficient support in handling even the most complex VAT queries. Where clients are still in dispute, the team can handle both the tribunal process and assist clients through the process of Alternative Dispute Resolution.
We very much look forward to seeing the practice go from strength to strength.”
