I am a fully qualified CIMA accountant and ATT qualified tax specialist. I help international businesses establish operations in the UK and also help companies in the UK enter the Asian market or provide services to the UK-based Chinese community.

I work closely with a diverse portfolio of corporate and personal clients to understand their needs. When establishing a UK subsidiary a variety of services may be required, including, accounting, tax, compliance, and auditing services. I also provide ongoing support on any other questions that may come up along the way, including advice on international tax structuring and cross-border tax-related matters.

I am the partner at Gerald Edelman responsible for the company’s Asian Division. I work with companies and high net worth individuals that seek to establish operations, invest in, or take up residency in the UK. This involves providing sound cross-border structuring advice in relation to their offshore assets and corporate structures, on issues such as pre-arrival and post-arrival tax planning, domicile advice and estate planning. My recent assignments also involved helping businesses obtain financing, cross-border M&A and assisting business owners on sales of their businesses.

I started my early accountancy career in 2008 while studying at the University of Manchester. After a few years of working in industry I returned to the same institution to study for a master’s degree in Finance and Business Economics. I later qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant, established my own accountancy practise and qualified as an ATT tax specialist.

I have been involved with Chinese Commercial Associations throughout my career, working with Free Trade Zones, Entrepreneurs Confederations and the provincial Chinese Trade and Investment Bureau. I hold fluency in English, Mandarin and speak conversational Cantonese. I have hosted and organised many large scales events and I am a regular speaker on a wide range of topics at professional conferences

Additionally, I am a visiting lecturer for accounting and taxation at Alliance Manchester Business School.

What is the most daring thing you’ve ever done?

I moved to London on New Year’s Eve of 2014 after having lived and worked in Manchester for over 13 years. It was a commitment to starting a new career and life journey.

What one piece of advice would you give your 10-year-old self?

Don’t give up easily, things aren’t always easy, stay focused, persistent, and keep going!

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

The power of eternal youth.

Who inspires you?

Confucius, as he said ‘There is no end to learning’ and continuous learning has always been one of my core values. By doing it I ensure that I remain relevant to my professional sector and keep up-to-date with trends by adapting my skill set. This in return will not just help me provide my clients with better and more innovative solutions but build a feeling of accomplishment and boost confidence.
