ACCA

Business Services Manager

"I strive to go above and beyond clients’ expectations by truly understanding their business. Through building relationships with my clients, I can better understand, not only their accounting needs, but crucially the commerciality of their business decisions."

Delivering valuable and practical advice to clients that benefits their business gives me the greatest satisfaction. Most people believe their accountant will simply look after their annual accounts and tax compliance, but this is only a small portion of what an accountant should be doing. I strive to go above and beyond clients’ expectations by truly understanding their business. Through building relationships with my clients, I can better understand, not only their accounting needs, but crucially the commerciality of their business decisions. This allows me to obtain better insight and deliver solutions that sometimes even they have not considered.

The focus of my work is to provide small to medium sized entities, as well as individuals, guidance and support, which allows them to concentrate on running their businesses. Whether a client needs assistance in meeting their compliance obligations, wants advice on future tax planning or is striving to make efficiencies, the knowledge I have gained working across a variety of different businesses and sectors allows me to give the help and advice they need.

After graduating with a degree in Economics from the University of Birmingham, I immediately joined a small general practice where I qualified as an ACCA. I then moved on to a firm in the West End to gain experience as a manager, before joining Gerald Edelman in May 2019.

What is the most exciting thing on your bucket list?
I’ve ticked off a lot of activities in recent years, such as riding in a hot air balloon and staying in the Amazon rainforest. However, I would love to go to Japan and see the Cherry Blossoms!

If you could have dinner with anyone who would it be?
Nelson Mandela. I couldn’t put down his autobiography and I think it would make for a very interesting night. Either him or Jennifer Aniston when she was in Friends, for obvious reasons.

What one piece of advice would you give your 10-year-old self?
I wouldn’t waste my breath giving my 10-year-old self any advice as I know he wouldn’t listen!

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Teleportation – to allow me to complete more items on my bucket list!
