Stephen Coleman

Stephen Coleman

Straightforward, honest and direct – sums me up perfectly. My candid approach reassures clients that they are receiving concise, truthful and transparent advice at every interaction – even if it isn’t necessarily what they want to hear. I believe that communication is key, so I make a point of staying in touch with my clients at regular intervals to ensure that we maintain close relationships and above all, so that I can pre-empt and resolve any issues which they may encounter.

My main focus is on statutory and management accounts. This includes carrying out audits for a wide range of businesses across a vast spectrum of sectors from hospitality and leisure, to land and property. I also help individuals to manage their finances efficiently, providing both general and tax advice.

If you’re interested…

I’ve spent my entire career at Gerald Edelman, having joined the firm straight after university in 1996. I graduated with a degree in Finance, later qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2000 and became a partner in 2004. You can view Stephen’s ICAEW profile here.

What is the most daring thing you’ve ever done?

I once went scuba diving in the Gulf Coast. Fascinating but no mean feat when you have a phobia of open water – I won’t be doing that again in a hurry!

If you could have dinner with anyone who would it be?

I am a direct descendant of Edward I and would love to meet him and find out first-hand about how he led the country. It would be interesting to hear his views on the country now – whether I agree or not!

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Definitely the ability to time travel! I love history so it would be great to be able to go back and experience certain periods in time. It would also be a great chance to rectify some of my past fashion faux-pas.

Who inspires you?

Stephen Hawking was one of the world’s brightest scientific stars. He was a truly inspirational man, not only for his incredible intellectual abilities but for his wit and humour. He never let his physical struggles get in the way of his scientific endeavours and constantly surpassed expectations.

What Stephen's clients say

Stephen is highly efficient, responsive and most importantly to us, commercially practical and available at all times. He is a great ’leveller’ and always gets straight to the issue.
